Investigative tours (Australia)

· Bundaberg macadamia tour

Bundaberg is Australia’s largest producing macadamia region and home to some of Australia’s most innovative growers, as well as the world’s largest processing plant. Delegates will meet some of our best growers and nurserymen and see first-hand what they are doing differently and how they are maximising their productivity and profitability.

Field trips and workshops

· New grower workshop & orchard tour

These workshops are aimed at potential and new macadamia growers/investors and cater for up to 20 delegates. Delegates will visit high performing orchards in key growing regions and learn from Australia’s best growers. 

· Macadamia nursery workshop for growers 

This workshop will suit growers who are considering or about to establish a new orchard and growers who are rejuvenating older orchards (replacing old trees with newer varieties). It covers all the establishment essentials including site preparation, nursery stock selection, young tree preparation & management, premium potting medium selection & management, tree samples and industry standards. 

· Macadamia nursery workshop for commercial operators 

This workshop provides delegates with the highly specialised production nursery skills required to implement best practice in the nursery. Key topics include irrigation and nutrition management, propagation techniques, rootstock and varietal selection trends, integrated pest and disease management and information on the industry’s accreditation scheme. 

Conferences

· Chris has spoken at numerous Australian and international avocado and macadamia conferences, covering topics including pest & disease management, new orchard establishment, nurseries, irrigation and on-farm innovation. View Chris’ bio for a list of presentations.

· Most recently, he presented to over 50 international delegates on the Australian Macadamia Society’s tour of Australian macadamia orchards, and at the International Macadamia Symposium in China about the development of an international App for the identification and control of macadamia pests.
